Parkview Funeral Home was established in 1983. Werner Henseleit and his
family started the home on the 200 block of Main Street in Penticton as a
store front and later purchased a house on the corner of Bennet and
Calgary Ave. to renovate and function as a funeral home. In 1987,
Parkview underwent major renovation and the chapel was added. In 1997,
Parkview was sold to an American Company SCI who then sold to a local
couple under the company of Providence Funeral Homes in February of
2006. |

Penticton Funeral Chapel was established in 1908 and is the oldest
funeral chapel in Penticton. Originally located on Main Street, it was
owned by Clarence "Curly" Goheen. It was not until the 1960's that its
present site on Winnipeg Street became its location. Penticton Funeral
Chapel operated the only crematorium in Penticton. In the 1970's, the
funeral chapel was sold to John Jordon and it remained a family funeral
home until 1989 when it was sold to the American company, SCI. During
2000, a fire destroyed the back of the funeral home and renovations
created what we now know as Penticton Funeral Chapel. SCI reinstated the
funeral chapel as a family business once again by selling it to
Providence Funeral Homes in February of 2006. |
