Our caring staff recognizes the uniqueness of each family and provides professional dignified service according to their individual needs. Many families choose to highlight the passions, love, accomplishments and contributions of each person who has left a unique mark on this world as they passed through it, having family and friends gather to pay tribute to the one they loved so dear. Others may choose a basic disposition with no memorial gathering. Providence Funeral Homes offers full service or basic burial and cremations customized according to your economic, religious or social needs.

Facilities

Our three locations offer large chapels suitable for funeral, memorial or celebration of life service and reception services are available which include catering and a hostess to serve coffee, tea or juice. Parkview Funeral Home has seating for 150 people, Summerland Funeral Home has seating for 75 people and Penticton Funeral Chapel has seating for 125 people. All three locations provide ample parking.

Aftercare

At Providence Funeral Homes, we extend our professional services long after the funeral experience because we understand the numerous details that need to be attended to. Our continued guidance includes:

• information on government documents and requirements,
• completing forms,
• providing access to resources or agencies, and
• grief counseling.

Please know that you do not have to go through this alone.

Grief Counselling

When we suffer the loss of a loved one or a close friend, it is difficult to put into words the depth of sorrow we feel. We all grieve when we suffer a loss. It is important to understand that the way we grieve is different for everyone. Sharing your grief and finding emotional support with someone you trust is vital and essential to your healing and recovery. Our Certified Grief Counselor is available at no cost to anyone who may need encouragement and help in coping with such deep and significant loss.

A 10-week program called the Grief Recovery Outreach Program is also offered every year and is available to anyone who may need practical steps in moving beyond grief to find renewed joy in living.

Resources Available

Our staff is very educated and experienced in assisting families with tasks at hand, and in leading you in the proper direction to get the resources you require. Our certified Grief Counsellor is available, at no cost, to anyone who may need encouragement and help in coping with such deep and significant loss. We also have available (also at no cost) many helpful books, booklets and information packages designed to help you during times of bereavement.
