Tony passed away suddenly on April 1st, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Tony was born on October 31, 1939, in Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal. He immigrated to Kamloops, BC, in 1957 and worked in sawmills as a lumber grader until his retirement in the 90’s.
Tony loved to golf, play cards, and billiards with his family and friends. He leaves behind his son, Tommy Simas (Rhonda); grandchildren, Brodie Simas (Catie) and Breanna Simas (David); great-granddaughter, I’aza Simas; sisters, Fernanda Areia from the Azores and Edie Pickering (John) from Mississauga, ON; sister-in-law, Maria DeFrias from Kamloops, BC; his ex-wife, Angie Simas, who still remained friends; nephews, Bobby DeFrias (Lori) and Danny DeFrias (Jason); as well as many cousins and a lot of friends.
He is sadly predeceased by his brother, Mariano DeFrias; nephew, Gary Pickering; and his girlfriend of many years, Yvonne Zeleszko.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., 1296 Main Street, Penticton, BC.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
He will be missed by many. Rest in Peace.
